Demo

With this type of remodel, a little dust and hammering is required. A good respirator and the proper sledge hammer / pry bar makes quick work of what is there. As expected in the process of demo'ing, more electrical demons came out of hiding. All would be addressed later on.

After many evenings, and a few weekends of carrying garbage cans of lathe and plaster up and down the stairs to the dumpster, the demo work was completed.
To better utilize the space upstairs, I moved a few walls around, making Bedroom 1 larger, converting the Storage into a second walk-in closet for the master, and widening the existing walk-in in closet with hopes of converting Bedroom 3 into a bathroom in the future

One thing that we struggled with for quite some time was what to do with the ceilings. There was plenty of evidence of prior and current residents of both bats and mice within the attic and the more we looked into it the best course of action was to remove them.  Before we could begin demo, we had to suit up to evict a few unruly winged tenants. After they were taken care of, we rolled and bagged all the old insulation (Note that there was a lack of enthusiasm for this part of the project as it was in sweltering heat and humidity and abundant amounts of dust and droppings). After that was all said and done, I embarked on the the easier and surprisingly quick process of kicking down the ceilings from the attic.

Unfortunately we failed to take any pictures of this part of the project as we were both in the attic

After all the demo was done, we had a full 30 yard dumpster.
