Garage - Power Part 1
With a break in the mild winter that we have had, I decided to work on getting power to the garage. The existing power had to be disconnected due to corroded metal conduit and improper wiring. The plan is to run 1.5" conduit so I can run a 100 amp service to the garage come spring / summer. She dreams of a winter with a functioning garage door opener (and I a space for woodworking and cars)
To begin, I had to dig a trench deep over 18" deep from the deck to the garage with a slight jog around the tree as to not disturb the roots. I decided to eye ball it and it seemed to turn out quite well.

After the trench was completed, we had a warm enough day to glue up the conduit (The blocking under the pipe will be removed before back filling, as there was quite a bit of water to deal with from the melt off). As you can see in the pictures, I was not looking forward to the idea of continuing the trench under the deck, so instead I brought it above grade, added a conduit body for easier access to fishing the line, and will have it run along the deck and into the house.
Another jog above ground, a hole in the block wall, and a conduit body and its all set for now. All that is left to do is to back fill the trench in as the ground slowly thaws.
