The Proposal

In August of 2015 we were able to take a break from the remodel and go on vacation to Maine. While we were there we hiked Mount Katahdin which is located in Baxter State park. At an elevation of 5,269 Ft and an estimated 11 hour hike, we got to the trail before the break of dawn. From Chimney Pond we chose to take Catherdral trail up to Baxter Peak which turned out to be a fantastic rock scrambling trek. While nearing the top , I had a question to ask my 'girlfriends' father before I could ask her (hint hint).

After reaching Baxter Peak I asked my 'girlfriend' to marry me.
(Hikers high aside, she said yes!)

After a little celebration and much needed food and water for the nerves,
we continued on across knife edge to Pamola Peak.

Quite possibly the best part of the hike was the scramble along Knifes Edge. The narrow trail, rocky out cropping, sheer drops, and 'the Chimney' (seen in the second picture, a large drop between peaks, much like a rock wall crevice, consisting of a decent amount of vertical climbing/descending)

In true fashion of all my hikes, I carry a beer (or two) to enjoy at the summit with others (this time we saved it for the second as we had to traverse Knifes Edge with a clear head). Quite fittingly I chose one by Maine Beer Company (which is always delicious)

And I was able to see my first moose in person!
