Business of food

For the past seven or so years, I have been helping my brother with his catering business. We have catered events for anywhere from 100 to 750 people. A couple months ago he proposed the idea of my wife and I taking over the business. Over the course of a week, the longest we have ever taken to make a decision on something, we decided to go for it! We thought it was too good of an opportunity to turn down.

The thought of owning and starting my own business has always appealed to me. But being the type of person that I am, I am never satisfied with doing just one thing. So the idea of starting a business under the Fittnell Farms name and allowing it to grow and expand was right up my ally. Last month we officially started Fittnell Farms Catering as a registered business and had our very first event shortly after! My goal for this business in the future is to provide funding for our other ventures, specifically a micro-brewery. Two of my great joys in life, beer and bbq, will be under one barn. 

We will focus on using our home grown produce and locally available ingredients in all of our dishes. We aim to match and reflect the seasons of fruits and vegetables in our cooking.  An early investment will be expanding our garden production, which will hopefully come in the form of a green house or hoop house. 

As things progress, we will hopefully combine our new business and our forever remodel within this blog. My goal is not to use this blog to advertise and push our business, but to combine our cooking process, our experiences, and maybe a few recipes and techniques. 

Now to start another adventure.
